Who We Are
NMMS is the professional organization for medical and osteopathic doctors in New Mexico. NMMS is a democratic organization structured to represent the views of a diverse membership. We were formed in 1882 to, as our bylaws say, "secure enactment and enforcement of just medical laws, to promote friendly relations among our members, to uphold the principles of medical ethics of the AMA, to extend medical knowledge and the standard of medical education, to uphold the obligations each member assumed under the Hippocratic Oath, all the while being cognizant of our unique influence on society."

On Tuesday, January 31, Senate Public Affairs Committee considered:
SB 170 Physician Fee Increase Medicaid. Passed. Referred to Senate Finance Committee.
SB 159 Prescription Opioid Medication. Passed. Referred to Senate Judiciary Committee.
SB 215 Pain Management Advisory Council. Passed. Referred to Senate Corporation committee.

NMMS past and current Presidents Bud Hodgin MD, Ed Johnson MD, Doug Layman MD, Bill Boehm MD, Karen Vaillant MD (2011-2012), Don Seelinger MD, and Lynn Bryant MD (2010-2011) cut the ribbon for the opening of the new headquarters (May 6, 2011).
