Children’s Medical Services
This committee acts in an advisory capacity to the Children’s Medical Services of the NM Public Health Division and the NM Department of Health.
Constitution & Bylaw Committee
The Constitution and Bylaws Committee is a fact-finding and advisory committee on all matters pertaining to the constitution and bylaws of the New Mexico Medical Society. All proposed amendments to the constitution and bylaws shall be referred to this committee for study and recommendation prior to being considered and debated by the House of Delegates.
Continuing Medical Education [CME]
The New Mexico Medical Society Continuing Medical Education Committee (NMMS-CME) has been reviewed and recognized by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). As a recognized accreditor, the committee has the authority to certify organizations and institutions in New Mexico as accredited providers of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).™ The committee also plans the CME activity for the NMMS annual scientific meeting and conducts site surveys of provider programs.
Liaison Committee to the Department of Health & Environment
The Liaison Committee to the DOH shall act in an advisory capacity and meet with representatives of the departments for the purpose of addressing the Society’s concerns regarding public health matters.
Liaison Committee to Human Services Department [HSD]
This Liaison Committee to HSD committee shall act in an advisory capacity and meet with representatives of the Human Services Department to bring before them the wishes of the Council and House of Delegates pertaining to matters of the Human Services Department, including issues concerning Centennial/Turquoise Care Programs.
Liaison Committee to Managed Care
The Liaison Committee to Managed Care shall maintain an ongoing dialogue with all major managed care plan medical directors to discuss and seek solutions for problems that occur between the plans and physicians. Medical directors of all managed care plans are included in this committee.
Liaison Committee to NM Schools of Medicine
This Liaison Committee to NM Schools of Medicine serves as a link between the New Mexico Medical Society and UNM SOM & BCOM. The committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to these schools in order to acquaint it with the needs and wishes of the New Mexico Medical Society regarding post-graduate education programs and the adaptation of the university facilities to programs which are in the best interest of the medical community at large. It will also aid university staff and authorities with any problems the universities may encounter at the state level.
Medical-Legal Committee
The Medical-Legal Committee volunteers consider cases before the New Mexico Medical Review Commission.
Convention Planning Committee
Meets with New Mexico Medical Society staff to plan partnerships/speakers and sponsors for the NMMS Annual Conference.
Ad Hoc Committee on Legislative Affairs
Researches and discusses legislative issues and initiatives.
Ad Hoc Committee on Membership
Members work to increase New Mexico Medical Society membership and to improve member services.
