Among the legislation that was successfully passed in 2015 and subsequently signed by Governor Susana Martinez were SB 325 – Limits Non-Compete Contractual Provisions for Healthcare Practitioners – and SB 220 – HMO Credentialing Requirements.

NMMS has had several inquiries regarding the timeline for SB 325 in regards to employment contracts, and thus provide an opinion from Debbie Solove JD on interpretation of the legislation.

SB 220 proposed new and amended sections of the Insurance Code, the health Maintenance Organization Law and the Nonprofit Health Care Law to establish provider credentialing requirements, including a 45-day maximum time to determine a credentialing decision.
